I am pleased to have joined the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund, the nation’s preeminent Latino leadership organization, colleagues and more than 50 other policymakers from across the country for a two-day institute in Boston, Massachusetts. The event provided local and state officials with professional development on how to proactively prepare their communities to confront and recover from natural or man-made emergencies during a time of increasing global and domestic threats.
Connecticut must do a better job at finding ways to keep our millennials here at home. Kids are struggling because they spend all this money on their education and then when they come back out to the real world, the jobs they get only pay $30,000, $40,000.
The State Bond Commission is allocating $450,000 in funds to Hartford’s Colt Park for the first phase of renovations and improvements to the athletic fields and other related improvements. I have been working persistently to secure state funds to restore the beauty of Colt Park. This park is one of our local gems and we must continue to work together to bring it back to its prime.
