Heading toward the final days of the 2016 legislative session and the activity on House Floor has been steadily increasing. I am looking forward the next couple of weeks as we work to move important legislative measures that keep Bridgeport on the radar.

At a press conference in support of legislation combatting opioid addiction. SB 352 would limit first time adult opioid prescriptions to a seven day supply, and limit all prescriptions for minors to a seven day supply. The bill would also make Narcan, an opiate antidote, available over the counter.

Bridgeport celebrated the arrival of New Orleans-based solar installer PosiGen, which targets low-to-moderate income households with an innovative solar leasing model. The purpose of this public-private partnership is to facilitate affordable energy improvement upgrades for thousands of households that previously could not afford them by saving families money on their electric bills.

Andre Baker is officially the state representative for the 124th Assembly District in Bridgeport. Rep. Baker was sworn-in today during the opening day ceremony of the 2015 legislative session at the State Capitol in Hartford. He will be a member of the Appropriations, Education and Public Health Committees.
