New Haven Ronald Mcdonald House

Will deliver 50 handmade blankets to “House that Love Built”
State Representative Betty Boukus (D-Plainville) and Plainville resident Marilyn Sevigny will visit the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut in New Haven on November 23rd to donate hand-crocheted blankets to be used by families staying at the facility while their children are treated at area hospitals.  Ms. Sevigny crocheted 50 lap-afghans over the course of a year. Work to Push Down Health Care Costs

State Rep. Named to Panel
State Rep. Betty Boukus, D-22 District, has been named to a panel that will evaluate "shovel-ready" projects to determine which will get a share of the $787 billion federal economic stimulus package. Boukus, who represents Plainville, Bristol and New Britain, was named by Speaker of the House Chris Donovan to Connecticut’s Recovery Working Group, made up of 20 voting members representing the public and private sectors. The group met for the first time last week. "A large percentage [of the stimulus money] is going to go to state projects," Boukus said. "But a lot of it will still be for municipal projects." Gov. M. Jodi Rell’s office said more than 200 project lists — more than 2,000 individual projects in all — have been submitted by towns, legislators and individuals representing nonprofit and for-profit entities around the state. Sen. Colapietro and Rep. Boukus Announce $45,000 in Funding to Conduct Study for Plainville Rails for Trails Project
Senator Thomas Colapietro (D-Bristol) and Representative Elizabeth “Betty” Boukus (D-Plainville) have secured a $45,000 grant that will clear the way for Plainville to conduct a study for a possible rails for trails project that could include a bicycle and walking path.  The plan is to encourage the use of non-motorized transportation, increase recreational opportunities and encourage travel to the Plainville Town Center that needs economic revitalization.
