Protecting Towns & Cities
For too long our towns and cities have been entirely dependent on property taxes and state grants to provide local services. The 2012-2013 budget gives towns and cities additional funding sources to provide real property tax relief for Connecticut.
In the 2012-2013 budget:
- A portion of the state sales tax and conveyance tax will be distributed to towns and cities statewide
- A portion of the hotel tax and car rental tax will be pooled to provide grants for regional initiatives
- Statewide municipal aid funding will increase over the previous fiscal year to prevent local property tax increases
