State Representative Juan Candelaria (D-New Haven), announced that paid sick leave legislation passed the Connecticut House of Representatives Thursday by a vote of 88 to 58. House Bill 6187, An Act Mandating Employers Provide Paid Sick Leave to Employees, establishes paid sick leave for employees at organizations with 50 or more employees. READ MORE

LATINO AGENCIES FACE CLOSURES WITHOUT STATE AID
First Latino Advocacy Day held at Capitol to raise awarenessHispanics from across the state are demanding that lawmakers restore funding to agencies that provide support to thousands of under-served residents. Governor Rell eliminated the funds in her proposed budget for the next two years. Many of the agencies say they will close if they don't receive the state aid. READ MORE
