New Funding for Groton and New London School Districts!

Great news for our schools: $540,000 is going to the New London school district and $543,123 for the Groton School District to build and expand high-dosage tutoring through the Connecticut High-Dosage Tutoring Program. An estimated 432 students in New London and 864 in Groton will be served by these funds, which target students in grade 6-9 with a focus on enhancing mathematics

Groton Boathouse Funding Approved!

Last week, I told you that $60,000 for repairs to the Groton Boathouse was on the State Bond Commission's agenda. And this morning, that funding was approved!

The Groton Boathouse will have repairs such as removing exterior paint and repainting, removing, and replacing old roof shingles as needed. As you can see in the photo below, the boathouse is in need of a major facelift, and that's exactly what this project will do.

Paying Down Pension Debt

Last week, Connecticut transferred more than $1.3 billion to pay down its long-term pension debt.

Since the legislature enacted the state’s “fiscal guardrails” in 2017, more than $7 billion in excess contributions captured from volatile revenue sources have been made to pay down pension debt, resulting in far-reaching savings for Connecticut taxpayers.

CT's Presidential Primary Moved Up By Four Weeks

Connecticut was lost in the forest at the end of the presidential primary season. During Tuesday’s Special Session, we took this bipartisan proposal and moved the state's presidential primary up by four weeks. This means the presidential primary will occur on the first Tuesday in April.
