IN SEYMOUR
Shortly after being sworn in this year, I was contacted by Jon Szuch, Seymour’s Economic Development Chairman, about the unacceptable look of the train trestle and concerns that there might be levels of lead on the state-owned trestle located at Route 115 and the Broad Street Bridge. Through working with the the Seymour State Senators, Bridge. Through working with the the Seymour State Senators Dan Debicella and Rob Kane, we brought this to the attention of the DOT and we got the ball rolling on this long overdue project.
The first phase of the trestle’s rehabilitation began today. AAIS, a local company from West Haven, thoroughly removed the decades old rust and paint from the trestle. Now the DOT will assess if there is any structural damage from the rust and make necessary repairs. Finally the trestle will be repainted.
On my way home a few days later, I was delighted to see DOT staff working on consolidating several road signs at the intersection of Wakeley Street and Route 67. The signs had been arranged in a way that was confusing. Now its easier find your way around Seymour and it looks better.
