Dear Neighbor,
Serving as your State Representative has been both rewarding and
challenging this year.
As an Appropriations Sub-Committee Chair, I was charged with the responsibility of finding spending efficiencies and cuts. I learned quickly that it is a challenge to balance revenues and
expenditures, apply fair cuts and navigate through political realities. We finally succeeded
in passing a budget last month that continues vital services and makes progress in cutting back on waste and non-essential services. I will
continue to work as your voice and advocate
to bring the greatest transparency and
responsibility to our state budget.
On the policy front, I am thrilled to have had
the opportunity to successfully champion two
important pieces of legislation that will improve the health and safety of our children and families. The Lyme Disease Doctor-Patient Protection
Act and the State Ban on Bisphenol-a A, were passed by both chambers and signed into law
by the Governor. This newsletter highlights these accomplishments and shares important
information on other legislative changes.
As always, it is a pleasure and honor to work
for you in Hartford. If you have any questions
or concerns, do not hesitate to contact
me anytime.
Best wishes,
Kim Fawcett
