Dear Neighbor,
The Connecticut General Assembly has completed another busy and exciting year. The state operates on a two-year budget plan, and this year, with the onset of challenging economic times, there were minimal changes in spending. With that being said, the state will maintain critical services, see a 4% total increase in spending and will not increase taxes.
This session, I was busy advocating for our businesses, seniors, schools and tax payers to make our communities better places to live, learn and work. While increases in spending did not readily occur, we passed legislation that will lower costs, increase transparency in government and expand opportunities. I had great success working as your voice in Hartford, and this newsletter aims to share some of the outcomes of my advocacy.
As I look forward to the 2009 legislative session, I am always eager to hear from you, and would embrace the opportunity to better understand your concerns and the issues that matter to your family. I am always available to talk, so please feel free to call me locally at 258-8922 or e-mail me at kfawcett@optonline.net.
Best Wishes,
Kim Fawcett
