Biography
Representative Gerald M. Fox, III is currently serving his fourth term representing Stamford's 146th District in the House of Representatives.
In 2011, Representative Fox was named House Chair of the Judiciary Committee. The committee is responsible for legislation related to courts, judicial procedures, criminal and civil law, probation, parole and other related matters.
He is also a member of the legislature’s Government Administration & Elections Committee and Transportation Committee, and serves on the Council of State Governments’ Criminal Justice Board of Advisors. Previously, Gerry co-chaired a special task force on Domestic Violence in Immigrant Communities and served on the National Conference of State Legislatures' Law and Criminal Justice Committee.
In 2011, Gerry was recognized by the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence for his commitment to ending domestic violence in the state and was also honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving for his work in passing legislation strengthening Connecticut’s drunk driving laws. Previously, he was recognized by the Connecticut Police Chiefs’ Association for his support of anti-crime measures.
Gerry was raised in Stamford and educated in Stamford public schools. He is a graduate of Westhill High School, Providence College and the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, where he received his law degree. Gerry has practiced law for nineteen years and is a partner with the Stamford law firm of Fox & Fox.
Previously, Gerry has been elected to the Stamford Board of Finance (1999-2003), where he held the positions of Chairman, Vice Chairman and Chair of the Audit committee. From 1995-1999 Gerry represented the Shippan area of Stamford on the Board of Representatives, where he served as a co-chair of the Land Use Committee. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Stamford Museum and Nature Center.
His wife, Kathleen, is a life-long Stamford resident and a teacher in the Stamford public schools. They live on Fairview Avenue with their two children.
