STATE SENATOR LEN FASANO, STATE REPRESENTATIVE MARY FRITZ ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF FEDERAL STIMULUS MONEY FOR WALLINGFORD
State Senator Len Fasano (R-34) and State Representative Mary Fritz (D-90) today announced the Town of Wallingford will receive $30,000 in federal stimulus dollars under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Wallingford and 23 other communities will share in a grant of $768,000 being distributed throughout the state to support local law enforcement and crime prevention efforts. In Wallingford, the $30,000 will be put toward equipment to improve information and data technology. READ MORE

Applaud Passage of Bill out of Senate, Urge Its Passage in House
State Senator Len Fasano (R-North Haven) and State Representative Mary Fritz (D-Yalesville) today applauded the passage in the Connecticut State Senate of SB 981: An Act Concerning the Availability of Automatic External Defibrillators in Schools. The bill requires schools to provide automatic external defibrillators (AED’s). AED’s jumpstart a heart’s natural beat after cardiac arrest and can be used in an emergency situation by bystanders with little or no training. The legislation also requires that schools develop and implement an emergency response plan to be in place in the event a student or member of the staff suffers from cardiac arrest or similar condition requiring treatment by an AED. State Representative Mary Fritz(D-Wallingford, Cheshire) announced House and Senate passage of legislation (SB 1089) that provides Good Samaritan immunity for an organization or facility that grants public access to an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). The legislation will allow youth sports programs, churches, health clubs, and businesses to acquire and use an AED without fear of liability. READ MORE

REP. FRITZ PROMOTES GREEN ENERGY AT STATE PRISONS
Wind Turbine Bill Passes HouseState Representative Mary Fritz (D-Wallingford, Cheshire) announced House passage of legislation (HB 6028) that would promote the use of clean energy at state prisons providing no-cost electricity to the prison and host community. The bill requires the Commissioner of Correction to apply for a grant from the Clean Energy Fund to conduct a pilot program to install and operate wind turbines at a correctional facility of her choice.
