2011 Constituent Survey

There's been some good news lately that our economy is improving, unemployment is stabilizing, and state revenues are increasing. Our future is looking brighter.

But there are still big challenges before us. Job creation and employment is not rising fast enough. State government reforms, begun with changes in the courts, needs to include the other branches of government as well. Accessible, affordable health care is still the subject of ideological debate and more needs to be done.

We can work to overcome these challenges - together. Your responses to my 2010 survey helped me protect the services you need most, see that the rich and super-rich pay their fair-share of taxes, and attempt to reverse the high costs of energy to keep more money in your pocket. Your feedback so far has provided good guidance for me.

I know that going forward, we can solve our state's problems. So I'm asking you to fill out this new survey and send it back to me. I'm still optimistic. I will keep protecting the vulnerable, especially seniors, children and our embattled middle-class working families. With hope for a better 2011.

Balancing The Budget: The Spending Side.

Our state is facing a budget deficit of historic proportions and unlike the federal government, our Constitution requires us to balance the budget. In order to do this, we must be creative, bold, and self-sacrificing. Once again, I cannot ask what program you would spend more on, or even spend the same on. I must ask that, if you were voting on the state budget, which of these programs would you cut a lot, cut a little, or try to protect. Please check one box for each program.
