Jack Hennessy was first elected to the Connecticut General Assembly in 2004 to represent the 127th District, the North End of Bridgeport. Hennessy is an Assistant Majority Leader and serves on the Environment Committee, and the Finance, Revenue, and Bonding Committee.
Hennessy was the key sponsor of the landmark Environmental Justice Bill. This legislation will allow urban communities, such as Bridgeport, to have their voices heard on the siting of noxious polluting facilities. Hennessy is a strong advocate for the homeowners in Ox Brook flood plain in the North End of Bridgeport. He has been leading the effort to construct a flood retention pond to hold back flood waters in the event of heavy rains. Hennessy fights for the protection of urban forests, such as Veterans Memorial Park.
Since elected, Hennessy has fought for property tax relief, the creation of a universal health care system, and protection of the Long Island Sound. Hennessy leads the Economic Development sub-group of the Smart Growth Working Group and is a member of the Continuing Legislative Committee on State Planning and Development. He hopes to ease congestion on the highways, attract businesses, and mass transit.
Born in Norwalk, Jack has lived in Bridgeport for the past 23 years.
Hennessy earned a Bachelor's degree from Boston College with a major in English Literature. He served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in the 1st Ranger Battalion, 75th Infantry Division. Currently, Hennessy is a truck driver for Federal Express and a CT Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Neuromuscular Therapist and also a graduate from the CT Center of Massage Therapy.
Jack and his wife, Lindy, live in Bridgeport and they have three children, Meisha, Shane and Sean-Michael.
