State Representative James Albis comments on the legislative hearings focusing on the effectiveness of the state's response to Tropical Storm Irene. Four Committees of the General Assembly are hearing from representatives of utility companies, workers, communications firms, municipal officials and the general public. Rep. Albis offers his views on the importance of the hearings as officials examine what worked and what didn't work.

SPEAKER OPENS PUBLIC HEARINGS ON IRENE
House Speaker Christopher G. Donovan opened legislative hearings on the state's preparedness for and response to Tropical Storm Irene at the Capitol Monday. He said everyone in the state was touched by Irene, and it was the legislature's responsibility to understand "what worked and what didn't in terms of how we prepared and how we responded. Speaker Donovan addresses and thanks workers at the Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection at the State Armory Wednesday for their tireless efforts to help Connecticut residents recover from Hurricane Irene.
