I was pleased to join the Caleb Group and Compass Working Capital to celebrate 20 people and their families who completed the 5-year FSS program. A ceremony and dinner was held Thursday, Dec. 5 at Eastern Connecticut State University.

During this episode, Dennis and I talk about Small Business Saturday, coming up November 30! We met with local business owners to discuss the different deals customers will find on Main Street in Willimantic.

Monday was Veterans Day, when we honor and remember the sacrifices veterans made protecting our freedoms and way of life. Their service to our state and country is deeply appreciated.

Across the country, the U.S. Census Bureau is committed to hiring 500,000 people to help carry out the 2020 Census, and in Connecticut, the Census Bureau is set to recruit about 28,000 workers.

Medicare Open Enrollment for 2020 is now under way. Through December 7 you can evaluate your options for Medicare and determine what coverage will meet your needs in the upcoming year. Please note that if you are currently on Medicare and prefer to stay with your existing coverage you don't have to do anything.

Flu season, which runs from October to May, is in full swing so it is important to get vaccinated. A flu shot early in the season gives the body a chance to build up immunity; however getting the vaccine later can still be helpful.
