Stratford had just purchased a landfill in Brooklyn, and sixty trucks were driving almost one hundred miles every day to dispose of their solid waste. Now, in this legislative session, Bridgeport’s CRRA wants to do the same to Franklin, CT, and mar their quiet landscape with increased traffic and create an unsafe atmosphere on their narrow, winding roads. RE: POTENTIAL GROUNDWATER CONTAMINATION
AT MILFORD CLEANING VILLAGE
“I had a very productive conversation with the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) regarding concerns of possible groundwater contamination existing at the former Milford Cleaning Village site and the impact it may have on the Robert Treat Apartment complex. Chemical tests have been sent out for analysis and I look forward to reviewing the results as soon they become available. I have been assured the drinking water is safe for families and residents in the complex. However, I will continue to monitor this situation closely together with other state officials, to find a reasonable solution to this issue.”
