A deadline for Access Health CT's (AHCT) Open Enrollment period is fast approaching. If you want your coverage to start January 1, 2025, you must enroll by on or before December 15. If you enroll between December 16 and January 15, 2025, coverage will start on February 1, 2025.

Sandy Hook Anniversary

This weekend is the 12th anniversary of the Sandy Hook massacre.

A date that never gets easier. So many lives were affected on this day in 2012, and many continue to struggle with the trauma that followed. This day was the impetus of much of my past legislation, from mental health resources to school safety, trauma response, and more.

I send continual love and light to the victims' families, the survivors of that horrible day, the responding law enforcement and the entire Newtown and Connecticut community. Though time has passed, you will never be forgotten.

I hope you consider joining my family in participating in the annual Acts of Kindness during the month of December to honor those lives we lost, to bring back some light to the world during this difficult anniversary. Any simple act of kindness will do.

Student Loan Reimbursement Program Rolls Out Soon

December 12, 2024

Starting January 1, Connecticut college students will be able to benefit from a bill we passed to alleviate student loan debt. The reimbursement program, led by House Democrats and the first of its kind in the nation, provides up to $5,000/year for up to four years (up to $20,000) in loan forgiveness. Six million dollars has been allocated in the current budget cycle and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Wednesday and happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have the opportunity to relax and spend time with family, for which we can all be grateful. I'm grateful for my mother-in-law, who hosts our family every year, after I literally blew up the glass cooktop on my stove that one time (25 years ago!) that I tried to cook. After having to then serve mashed potatoes and gravy from the Truck Stop, I haven't hosted since. I think the whole family is grateful for that!
