Newington Knights Junior Pee Wee Football
Three years ago the Newington Knights, a team of dedicated Junior Pee Wee football players, under the direction of head coach Brian Perillo, worked hard and made it all the way to the Pop Warner National championship games in Florida - an incredible achievement - but lost in the final game to North Carolina.
But our Newington Knights and their outstanding coaches don't give up easily....
The next year, 2003, two squads from Newington - our Junior Pee Wee and Pee Wee teams, again worked their hearts out and once again made it to the nationals - both coming in fourth place.
The 2004 season was upon us. The squads continued to pour their energy and heart into practicing and playing.
Both teams had 14-0 seasons. Pee Wee's scored 463 points, while giving up an amazing 0 points all year. Both teams went on to become:
-
Central Connecticut Pop Warner Champions
-
Connecticut State Champions
-
Western New England Regional Champions
-
New England Regional Champions
And finally, in December 2004, for the first time in our town's history, Newington Knights Pee Wee's, under the direction of coach Brian Perillo, and Newington Knights Junior Midgets, under the direction of coach Jeff Perillo went on to become Pop Warner National Champions!
