TO REDUCE AND STABILIZE ELECTRIC RATES
Legislation targets rates for residential, small business, and large industrial customers
Speaker of the House Christopher G. Donovan (D-Meriden) and State Representative Vickie Nardello (D-Bethany, Cheshire and Prospect), co-chair of the General Assembly’s Energy and Technology Committee, held a news conference at the State Capitol on Wednesday to announce the introduction of legislation that will change the rules of the retail competitive market for electricity, providing needed rate relief and stability for residential, small business and industrial customers. LAWMAKERS CHAMPION BILL TO LOWER ELECTRIC BILLS
State Representative Vicki Orsini Nardello (D-Prospect), the House Chair of the Energy and Technology Committee House, announced that a bill creating a state agency to coordinate Connecticut’s electricity needs passed the state legislature’s Energy and Technology Committee late yesterday. Despite extreme opposition from large energy corporations and their lobbyists, the bill passed 15 to 6. House Bill 6510, An Act Establishing a Power Authority, would establish the Connecticut Electric Authority (CEA). READ MORE
