HEALTH I helped lead the battle to make our state the first in the nation to ban the toxin BPA from baby bottles and other children's food containers. The law took effect October 1st of this year. We also opened the state employee healthcare plan to municipal employees and nonprofits.
SAFER Rep. Widlitz and I presented the legislature's Thank You proclamation to Branford Police Chief John DeCarlo for his 34 years of dedicated service to law enforcement. Chief DeCarlo retired from the Branford PD in September. He has a PhD in Criminal Justice and is now a full time associate professor at the University of New Haven. Chief DeCarlo is a big believer in DNA testing and we welcomed his support this session for a new law to increase testing for DNA evidence. We also strengthened our drunk driving and domestic violence laws.
