TROPICAL STORM IRENE HEARINGS
State Representative Lonnie Reed was among Connecticut lawmakers looking for ways the state could be better prepared for impending severe weather, so week to two week power restoration delays never happen again. Tropical Storm Irene left thousands without electricity for days as she blew through Connecticut in September 2011. Rep. Reed heard from municipal officials and local residents in an effort to produce concrete improvements in the state's prevention and power restoration plans.

CT Rep. Lonnie Reed applauded passage of an historic energy bill by the CT House of Representatives. Rep. Reed, Vice Chair of the Energy & Technology Committee, helped negotiate the final document. Passing this bill allows Connecticut to lead the nation by growing a truly green economy and by achieving a cleaner, greener, more affordable energy future for the people and businesses of our state. The bill creates a new CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). Rep. Reed's interest in energy issues is long term having served as a staffer on the US Senate Energy Committee in Washington.
