I was honored to be recognized as a 2016 Legislative Champion by the CT Alliance of YMCAs at the YMCA of Greater Hartford Downtown campus today.

I’m honored to receive the 2016 Legislative Oral Health Champion Award from the Connecticut Oral Health Initiative.

I'm happy to announce that I have secured a grant of $1.5 million for the City of Hartford to expand a project making streetscape improvements along Farmington Avenue.

Yesterday I joined Governor Malloy, Mayor Luke Bronin, and the Northside Neighborhood Alliance (NINA) for the grand opening of the renovated Zunner building in Hartford.

Yesterday the House of Representatives unanimously passed groundbreaking legislation to address the state's opioid crisis. HB 5053, An Act Concerning Access to Overdose Reversal Drugs, acts both to help those currently struggling with opioid addiction and prevent new cases of addiction.

On Wednesday, I was proud to bring out a bill which will allow for the limited use of medical marijuana (non-smokable forms) for children with serious medical conditions, such as epilepsy or cerebral palsy. HB 5450, An Act Concerning The Palliative Use of Marijuana, passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 129-13.

I'm honored to have been selected as this year's recipient of HARC's Governmental Leadership award. HARC is an outstanding Hartford nonprofit organization that provides advocacy and support services for people with intellectual and related disabilities.

Today I joined my colleagues at a press conference to announce new legislation to combat opioid addiction. I'm hopeful that this bill will save lives by preventing opioid addiction and overdoses.
