Constituent Survey 2020

Dear Neighbor,

Last year, I sent out a survey asking your opinions on a variety of topics. Here are some of the issues you responded with, and the work we did in the legislature to address your concerns:

  • Protect the environment
We are phasing out single use plastic bags, banning fracking waste, and are beginning an offshore wind program.
  • Cut pension and social security income taxes
The phase-in of these income tax exemptions continues as planned, helping our seniors retire comfortably here in Connecticut.
  • Make CT more business friendly
We repealed the business entity tax, expanded the Angel Investor tax credit, and are phasing out the capital stock tax.
  • Make college more affordable
We are exploring the feasibility of a debt-free community college program. If implemented, the state will pick up all fee costs after scholarships, grants, other aid awards are applied.

Now, you have the same opportunity to influence the work we face in the 2020 session. I hope you will take the time to fill out this survey and let me know what is most important to you.

What concerns you and your family the most?
Please check all that apply.
I often hear from constituents that we should seek ways to reduce spending. I am interested to know in what area you think we should reduce spending or improve efficiency. Please share any ideas you have here.
What impacts of the state budget have you seen personally, or within our community?
There ought to be law
Every so often, I find myself saying “there ought to be a law.” Now is your chance to suggest a bill that the legislature should consider. What are your ideas for what we should be working on at the Capitol?
Here are some of the bills that are being proposed right now; where do you stand?
