I was pleased to join state leaders and the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs in recognizing a group of veterans who were inducted into the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame, 2015 Class, including Milford’s resident, Greg Smith who served 10 years of active duty in the U.S. Navy. I nominated Greg because his continued commitment to local civic and volunteer service to others is simply extraordinary!
After months of strong advocacy, planning and meetings with residents and local and state officials, the State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) held its Silver Sands Park Informational Meeting at Milford’s Town Hall.
Rep. Rose joined her colleague Rep. Ferraro at the Milford Senior Center for a technology workshop hosted by AT&T.
Rep. Kim Rose together with Reps. Staneski and Charles Ferraro welcomed a NY artist to Milford, who is traveling around the country painting American flags on veterans' buildings in each state paying tribute to men and women who have served. Devon's VFW Post 7788 was the recipient of a uniquely painted three dimensional version of the American Flag.
The legislature's Women's Caucus, led by Reps. Rose and Rebimbas are making strides supporting legislation and participating at events bringing the group closer as they do the people's work.
Many supporters came to acknowledge the group that served in the United States Army during the American Civil War. "When I was first contacted by Mr. Tom Acri's 8th grade class from West Shore Middle School asking to get these flags displayed, I made a personal commitment to support this effort and do everything possible to make this happen," Rep. Rose said.
It was a pleasure to join host, David Smith, on Meet the Leaders TV program for an interview to talk about the current legislative session and other issues including the budget and a couple of my legislative priorities. We had a good discussion about my contractor bill and affordable housing.
State Reps. Kim Rose and James Maroney hosted a group of Pumpkin Delight Elementary School students, teachers and parents at the State Capitol who came to visit and tour the building. Both lawmakers talked to the children, answered their questions and spent time introducing them to the legislative process. It was a fun and informative session that everyone enjoyed!
