Hundreds of rank and file union members from across the state turned out at a Labor Committee public hearing Thursday to express concerns over proposed changes in the state's binding arbitration and prevailing rate statutes. "We scheduled this meeting at the end of the work day so that we could hear the concerns of working men and women, and they turned out," said Rep. Ezequiel Santiago (D-Bridgeport), vice chair of the Labor Committee. The bills being heard at the public hearing include: SB 989, An Act Concerning Reserve Fund Balances and Changes to Municipal Binding Arbitration; SB 990, An Act Concerning the Prevailing Rate of Wages; HB 6409, An Act Requiring Neutral Municipal Arbitrators Be Members of the American Arbitration Association.
