REPS. SAYERS AND BARAM NAMED TO COMMISSION TO IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITIES FOR REGIONALISM, MUNICIPAL COST SAVINGS AND EFFICIENCIES
State Reps. Peggy Sayers (D-Windsor Locks) and David Baram (D-Bloomfield) have been named by House Speaker Christopher G. Donovan (D-Meriden) and House Majority Leader Denise Merrill (D-Mansfield) to a new a commission that will seek to identify opportunities for more regional collaborations designed to create efficiencies and save money for municipalities. The Blue Ribbon Commission on Municipal Opportunities and Regional Efficiencies (MORE) will begin its work next Tuesday, January 19th with the goal of recommending legislation during the 2010 session.

REP. SAYERS ANNOUNCES $3.6 MILLION IN STIMULUS MONEY
FOR WINDSOR
Funds Released for Housing
State Representative Peggy Sayers (D-Windsor and Windsor Locks) announced the availability of $3.6 million to Windsor from the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD). The grant allows for the town to purchase and fix up bank owned foreclosed properties. The improved property would then be made available to low and middle-income families. READ MORE

TO WINDSOR & WINDSOR LOCKS
Funds Support Energy Efficiency Programs
State Representative Peggy Sayers (D-Windsor & Windsor Locks) announced federal stimulus money that can go directly to municipalities for energy efficiency programs. Windsor and Windsor Locks are slated to receive over $160,000 from the stimulus package for energy efficiency projects. In order to secure the funding the town need only provide the state Office of Policy and Management (OPM) with a plan outlining the proposed usage for the funds. READ MORE

SS&C CEO PROVIDES GRANT FOR WINDSOR'S SUMMERWIND PERFORMING ARTS CENTER SETS
SIGHTS ON A 2010 CONCERT SEASON
Windsor, CT. Celebrate Windsor! Inc. (CWI) announced today a charitable foundation controlled by William C. Stone, CEO of SS&C Technologies Inc., a Windsor-based financial services provider, has presented the non-profit organization that operates SummerWind, with a grant of $500,000. The grant will support the kick off of the SummerWind capital campaign and secure start-up funding for the 2010 season. The arts center, now to be called the SS&C SummerWind Performing Arts Center will dedicate the balance of 2009 to raise the remaining $550,000 necessary to replace SS&C SummerWind’s signature tent which collapsed in a snow storm in 2003 following its first season.
