AVAILABILITY
OF STIMULUS MONEY Funds Support Energy Efficiency Programs
State Representatives Jim Shapiro (D-Stamford), Carlo Leone (D-Stamford), Gerald Fox (D-Stamford), Patricia Billie Miller (D-Stamford) and William Tong (D-Stamford) announced the availability of federal stimulus money that can go directly to municipalities for energy efficiency programs. Stamford is slated to receive over $1.18 million from the stimulus package for energy efficiency projects. In order to secure the funding the town need only provide the federal Department of Energy (DOE) with a plan outlining the proposed usage for the funds. READ MORE

PASSES GENERAL LAW COMMITTEE
An Act Concerning the Fair Pricing of Gasoline, sponsored by State Representative Jim Shapiro, (D-Stamford) co-chair of the General Law Committee, passed by an eleven to six vote in committee today. VOLUNTEERS IN AN EMERGENCY State Representative Jim Shapiro (D-Stamford) proposed legislation to allow for volunteer healthcare providers to assist in Connecticut during an emergency. The legislation affords volunteers the same interstate recognition held by licensed professions as part of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact. READ MORE
