STATEMENT OF HOUSE MAJORITY LEADER BRENDAN SHARKEY ON
GOP CALLS FOR NEW AGRICULTURAL SUB-COMMITTEE AT LEGISLATURE

"The Legislature has worked hard to address the concerns of the agricultural community; we have made huge investments in promoting Connecticut Agriculture, including authorizing $10 million to support dairy farmers, the Community Investment Act to provide grants to farmers, and the creation of the Community Farms program to preserve farmland. How can the Republicans with a straight face call for more cuts to state government when they are proposing unnecessary and costly ideas like adding another committee to the Legislature?"

“Just last month, the Governor's Council for Agricultural Development was re-established to find ways to meet local demand for Connecticut-grown food and agricultural products and grow the state's agricultural sector and economy. We look forward to working with Governor Malloy and the agricultural community.” – House Majority Leader J. Brendan Sharkey (D-Hamden).

J. Brendan Sharkey is State Representative from Hamden’s 88th District and serves as the House Majority Leader.
