Another strong fiscal year for the state budget has resulted in the transfer of more than $1.3 billion toward paying down Connecticut's long-term pension debt.

I am happy to announce that the State of Connecticut's Community Investment Fund 2030 (CIF) has approved a $22.5 million grant application to fund the demolition and abatement of the decommissioned PSEG Harbor Station coal plant in Bridgeport.

The House of Representatives on Thursday passed HB 6667, which is the most comprehensive update to Connecticut's gun violence statutes since the historic reforms we passed after the Sandy Hook tragedy.

The House of Representatives passed HB 6918 on Tuesday that makes important clarifying and technical changes to the groundbreaking Clean Slate legislation signed into law in 2021, which can now be fully implemented and deliver on the promise of a fresh start for hundreds of thousands of people in education, employment and housing without the burden of a long-past criminal conviction.

As Co-Chair of the Judiciary Committee, I led passage of legislation on Tuesday to reduce gun violence, including mass shootings, community violence, domestic violence, suicides and accidental shootings.

I am pleased to report that responsible budgeting and major structural changes made to pension and teachers' retirements plans are putting Connecticut on much more solid fiscal ground and saving taxpayers billions in debt payments.
