Since applications for the child tax payments opened to the public on June 1, more than 90,000 households have filed to receive the $250 per child tax payment (up to three children). Last year, I led the passage of critical updates to our "Red Flag" law, otherwise known as its Risk Warrant or Risk Protection Order statute, to better protect our residents, families, and communities from gun violence. Key provisions of this law took effect today.

Connecticut's general obligation bond outlook was just raised from stable to positive by the credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P). This pivotal economic news is due to our historic payments toward our unfunded liabilities, a record rainy day fund and smart investments in the future of our state.

The tragedy that happened at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and every one that's happened in the past two decades is the result of our federal leaders' inaction. Our state and our country need bold, decisive action to protect our communities from gun violence.
