REP. ALBIS WELCOMES THE ADDITION OF MORE
PRESCHOOL SLOTS FOR EAST HAVEN CHILDREN

State Representative James Albis welcomes the news that East Haven will be able to offer 14 more state-funded preschool slots to children from low-income families as a result of the education reform legislation that was passed by the General Assembly earlier this year.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy released the list of 1,000 new preschool slots that will be available statewide this fall funded at $6.77 million.

“This is terrific news for East Haven and particularly for the children and their families who will be able to have access to the best early childhood education we can deliver,” Rep. Albis said. “Our passage of education reform legislation and investment in early childhood education is producing results by adding these preschool slots.”

The additional preschool slots for East Haven are for 3 and 4-year old children.

Rep. Albis noted that many studies have shown that children having access to high quality early education are more likely to succeed in grades K-12 and the addition of 1,000 new preschool slots “is a great step” in providing such access to all of our children.
