5G Technology a Step Closer
I am proud and excited to have helped push HB 7152, a priority for Governor Lamont, establishing a Council on 5G Technology that would pave the way for this emerging technology, through the finish line in the House chamber. Taking this proactive role towards creating the necessary framework for the 5G spectrum is certainly a step in the right direction.
The state Council will be charged with making determinations on requests from wireless carriers to use state property for the placement of 5G wireless service facilities. The measure will also require the Office of Policy and Management (OPM) to make recommendations for a streamlined process to site small wireless facilities on municipal property.
Arconti said, “This transformative technology is no longer a futuristic concept. Prioritizing the ground work necessary to give our state the competitive advantage needed to capitalize on this next generation of data transmission is a smart and assertive move.”
The measure goes to the Senate for action. The legislative session ends June 5.
