Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz and House Commerce Chair Rep. Caroline Simmons welcomed business and industry representatives to a press conference today at the State Capitol. The legislators – who worked to pass a bill last year to develop a Connecticut Made logo – encouraged business and industry leaders to use the new promotional tool.

“Our beautiful state has so much to offer, including a wide array of popular products made right here in Connecticut,” said Speaker Aresimowicz (D-Berlin/Southington). “From our growing manufacturing industry to our craft breweries, ‘Connecticut Made’ is a quality branding we can all be proud of and should help promote.”

“This Connecticut Made initiative will support businesses that make their products locally, said Rep. Simmons (D-Stamford). “It is a simple and effective way to showcase the many wonderful products our businesses make here in Connecticut and it will support local jobs and grow our economy.”

“Connecticut Made complements the state’s ‘Still Revolutionary’ brand, reminding the world of Connecticut’s innovative spirit and the can-do attitude of its companies and workers,” said Catherine Smith, commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development.

The legislation required DECD to develop the logo – now available on the agency’s website -- at: www.ct.gov/ctmade. Businesses interested in using CT Made on their products and services can find eligibility requirements and guidelines here.
