Southington Receives Funding for Bridge Infrastructure Improvement

House Majority Leader Joe Aresimowicz (D – Berlin/Southington) is pleased to announce that the State Bond Commission has approved two grants-in-aid to the town of Southington to maintain and improve the town’s bridge infrastructure.

The Bond Commission approved an $822,750 grant-in-aid to make improvements and repairs to the bridge at the West Center Street Extension, over Eight Mile River, and an $823,708 grant-in-aid for improvements and repairs to the bridge on Spring Street, over the Quinnipiac River. Both grants-in-aid were provided under the Department of Transportation’s Local Bridge Program.

“This funding is crucial to our municipalities,” said Aresimowicz. “It is vital to ensure that Southington is able maintain its infrastructure and meet our community’s needs despite the tough economic times the state is facing.”

The items were approved by the Bond Commission on Friday, May 27th.
