Veterans First Act

June 21, 2016

Proud to stand with Branford Mom Sarah Greene and Senator Richard Blumenthal to urge passage of the Veteran's First Act. Sarah was left alone to raise her two young children when her husband, Lt Col David Greene USMC, was killed July 2004 in Iraq. Sarah found that certain Veterans Administration scholarships and benefits are not available to surviving families. When we shared this inconceivable omission with Sen. Blumenthal, he crafted a bipartisan bill that expands key VA benefits - including the Yellow Ribbon college scholarship program - to qualified surviving dependents. At least 2000 children who lost a military parent could potentially attend college if this bill passes. After fighting so hard to ensure a college education for her own kids, Sarah is now battling on behalf of other families. We hope Congress will pass the Veterans First Act by July 4th!!
