Aiding Homeowners with Failing Foundations

March 3, 2017

I spoke with WDRC’s Brad Davis and Dan LoVallo about problem of crumbling foundations in eastern and central Connecticut.

There are a number of bills on the issue. The bill I introduced, HB6005, “An Act Authorizing Bonds Of The State To Establish A Fund To Assist Homeowners With Crumbling Foundations,” would set up a fund administered by the state Department of Consumer Protection. DCP would be authorized to distribute proceeds from the fund to homeowners with crumbling foundations caused by concrete tainted with pyrrhotite mineral compounds.

Applicants could secure up to seventy-five thousand dollars - Up to fifty thousand dollars in grants and twenty-five thousand dollars in loans.
