Safety Improvements on Poquonock Ave

May 26, 2017

The state Department of Transportation (DOT) will address safety concerns on Poquonock Avenue in Windsor.

A group of neighbors called Windsor Residents for Safety and Accountability had reached out to me about traffic and speeding issues in the residential area. Residents reported frequent speeding - particularly by large tractor-trailers – and that residents feared for their safety when collecting their mail or trash receptacles.

DOT will upgrade warning signs where necessary to meet current standards and install a “School Zone Ahead” sign. The town has also indicated that they will begin to implement periodic enforcement operations in the area.

Sometimes it can be difficult for residents to navigate state and local bureaucracies. I am always happy to step in and help my constituents with these quality of life issues.
