On March 24th, State Representative Betty Boukus received the Boys & Girls Clubs of Connecticut's 2010 "Champion of Youth" award.

Governor Michael Fedele and Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Linda Schwartz prepared to load a van with donations from the Seventh Annual State Capitol Secret Santa Collection for the Rocky Hill Veterans Home and Hospital. This year, donations were also collected for Soldiersocks.com, a Stamford-based charity that ships tube socks to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, who desperately need basic provisions like clean, dry socks.

In August of 2006, State Rep. Betty Boukus received a letter from Superintendent of Schools Binkowski requesting support for technology, wiring and telecommunications funds. Rep. Boukus and Board of Education member Patrick Ringrose attended the October 6th meeting of the State Bond Commission to thank Governor M. Jodi Rell for placing the request on this month’s bond agenda. Plainville will receive $124,151.

Rep. Boukus and Plainville seniors join Governor M. Jodi Rell as she signs the Bingo bill into law. The legislation will allow the increase of prizes awarded at recreational bingo games for senior citizens from a maximum of five dollars to a maximum of twenty dollars.
In February, Representative Boukus traveled to New York City to examine a model clay statue of Connecticut State Heroine Prudence Crandall created by sculptor Gabriel Koren. Once the final project is completed, the Crandall sculpture will be put on display in the State Capitol.
Representative Boukus joins Sen. Colapietro in welcoming third graders from the Louis Toffolon School to the floor of the state Senate.
On January 15, 2004, Rep. Boukus welcomed Maile Mirmina, a fifth-grade student at the Louis Toffolon School in Plainville, and her father, Paul Mirmina, to the State Capitol for "National Thank Your Mentor Day." Rep. Boukus has been Maile's mentor for the past four years and participated in the celebration, which was part of National Mentoring Month.
