The Connecticut Department of Housing is announcing the release of $45.8 million in funding to various programs that assist those in need of emergency shelter and services. This is in addition to the previously announced $5 million for cold weather shelters. Specific locations for cold weather shelters are determined by municipalities and nonprofit providers, with DOH providing funding for operations.

Employers in the 95th District - you might be interested in taking part in this seminar. On Thursday, December 14, at 10am, the CT Department of Labor’s Business Engagement Unit, will host a free virtual seminar that welcomes business owners and managers, human resources professionals, supervisors, benefits managers, and any other employers interested in learning about the Unemployment Insurance process.

I have great news for parents who are struggling to find and afford high quality childcare. Connecticut has created its first home-based child care apprenticeship program, which aims to create more, high demand, and better-paying jobs.

Last weekend, I was thrilled to be chosen as President-Elect for the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators. Being elevated to this role is a tremendous honor, and this responsibility is one I will faithfully execute every day.

On this Thanksgiving, I wish to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude. In this season of reflection, I am especially thankful for friends like you, the joy of shared moments, and the support that surrounds us.

Our community is strong thanks to our residents and everyone working together to make our state a great place to live.

We have a great deal to look forward to in the upcoming days with Thanksgiving celebrations, being together with loved ones, and Small Business Saturday just around the corner on November 25. The latter is a great opportunity to support our local entrepreneurs, artisans, and small businesses that make our community unique and vibrant.
