February 10, 2017

It's been another busy week in Hartford!

This week Governor Malloy gave his budget address to the General Assembly outlining his proposed budget for Fiscal Years 2018 and 2019. You can find his full proposal here. Video of the address and the transcript is available here.

On Tuesday I attended the Arc Connecticut’s 4th Annual Family Hearing Day at the Legislative Office Building. We had a full crowd as we heard from individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families about what supports they need to lead full lives. Thank you to the co-chairs of the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Caucus for organizing today's hearing and to all the advocates and families who testified!

Tuesday evening I attended a Chinese New Year Celebration at East Hartford High School sponsored by the EH Public Schools World Language Department and the Chinese language Instructors. The event was open to the entire district and included lantern making, authentic cuisine, bamboo dancing, a traditional Lion Dance and other interactive displays!
