The Democratic Meriden legislative delegation led by Speaker of the House Christopher G. Donovan and State Reps. Catherine Abercrombie and Buddy Altobello hailed passage of legislation that makes mid-term adjustments to the state budget brings much needed sweeping education reform to Connecticut, and provides Meriden with new funding for educational programs. Donovan (D-Meriden) and State Representative Peter Tercyak (D-New Britain) hosted members of Connecticut's Polish Community today for the annual "Polish Day" at the State Capitol. ELECTION DAY VOTER REGISTRATION PASSED
House Speaker Chris Donovan said House passage of a package of voter reforms that includes Election Day voter registration will help improve voter turnout in the state. “We’ve seen a steady decline in voter turnout for some years," he said. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE BILL HELPS POLICE, VICTIMS
House Speaker Christopher G. Donovan says the bill approved by the House gives police officers new tools for responding to incidents of domestic violence, and strengthens the enforcement of restraining orders for victims. READ MORE
