Property Tax Relief
for
the Middle Class.
|
Finally!
Real progress toward property tax reform.
After
years of hard work, I was proud to be able to vote, in a key budget
committee, for a property tax relief plan that would provide real
relief to middle class taxpayers:
$500 in property tax relief - directly to taxpayers.
The
property tax credit that lowers state income taxes would be increased
to $500. This would be straightforward, honest, tax relief
given directly to taxpayers.
$500 for Seniors With Modest Incomes.
The plan
I am supporting would, for the first time, let seniors and others who
pay a lot in property taxes, but whose incomes are too low to owe state
income taxes to get up to $500 back from the state to reimburse them
for the property taxes they pay.
This property tax relief
proposal would bring
$13 Million in Property Tax Relief for New Britain.
Refunding
almost 20% of New Britain residents' property taxes
$5.7
Million in Property Tax Relief for Newington.
Refunding
9% of Newington residents' property taxes
Now, we just
need to persuade legislators and the governor to agree to approve of
this property tax relief:

More
Funding for

Local Schools
&
Property Tax Relief.
|
$78 Million More for quality education
and lower property taxes.
The plan
I am supporting would provide $78 Million more than the governor's
budget proposal for local education funding and the municipal aid
programs that help the City of New Britain and the Town of Newington to
provide local services without raising property taxes.
This important proposal would
bring a
$2.2 Million Increase for New Britain.
$2
Million More Than the Governor's Budget Proposal,
$670,000 Increase
for Newington.
$490,000
More Than the Governor's Budget Proposal.
This plan
includes $10 million more education funding for "priority school
districts", like New Britain. And $30 million to help cities
like New Britain and towns like Newington with special education
funding - which is the one of the biggest things driving up property
taxes.
But, we need
to persuade legislators and the governor to agree to approve of this
important funding for education and property tax relief:
