Report on my work in

The
2007 legislative session, certainly had its ups and downs. For
the first time, there was serious action on the most important issues
in the state - property tax reform, health care, high electric rates
and education funding. And I am proud to report that there is
real progress. But, there were also some disappointments, showing
the hard work that still remains to win the progress that is
needed. I am already getting ready for the work ahead.

As
you know, I have been one of the strongest advocates in the legislature
for reforming our state's unfair property tax system. This year,
we had real progress and some disappointment on this very important
issue. Click on

find out more about this issue and to
see what you can help to win property tax reform.

I
voted in 2006 to approve a significant increase in education funding
for our cities and towns. It was not enough, in my mind, since
Gov.
Rell abandoned the bold education funding proposal she had originally
proposed. But the level of funding approved is progress that helps to
support our local schools while lowering
the unfair burdens of property taxes. Click on the picture

way education is funded in Connecticut.

Healthcare
costs continue to rise for both workers and businesses and the quality
of healthcare coverage is going down for many people. Making
sure everyone can get quality and affordable healthcare coverage is one
of my highest priorities. Click on the picture above (or here) to read
about the legislation I am working on and to find out what you can do
to help get it passed.

The skyrocketing increases in our electric
bills is a result of the flawed
electric deregulation law approved back in the 1990s.
I worked hard this past year to undo this flawed law. And I
was very disappointed that it was not repealed and that, instead, a law
that I voted against was approved that could raise rates even more.

For
years, now, I have worked to protect Connecticut's ConnPACE
prescription drug program. But more must be done to ensure
that all seniors and persons with disabilities can afford their
prescriptions. Click on the picture above (or here) to see my
ideas and to see how you can show your support for better prescription
coverage.

"Free
trade" policies have been costing our state good-paying jobs for
years. Now, even high-tech white-collar jobs are at risk to
foreign "outsourcing". Click on the picture above (or

am doing about it and what you can do to help.
