The Legislative Session Has Started

The legislative session has officially started. This is an exciting time as there are many priorities my colleagues and I have for this upcoming session. Some of the primary ones are listed below.

Some priorities for Connecticut House Democrats this year include:

  • Helping Seniors
  • Improving Childcare
  • Advancing Childhood Nutrition
  • Addressing Climate Change
  • Protecting Businesses & Employees
I remain dedicated to Connecticut and its future and want to bring the best legislation I can for Bridgeport.
Celebrating Black History Month With Our Connecticut State Reps
Installations and Revisions of Traffic Control Systems

Plans are being developed by the Connecticut Department of Transportation regarding upgrades and installations to traffic control system equipment to meet the right standards, and Bridgeport will be included in these plans.

The streets specifically getting these upgrades will be on U.S Route 1 off of Boston Ave. at Pembroke St. and also Central and Palisade Ave.

It's important for both traffic safety and general quality of life that our roadway equipment stays as up to date as we can keep them. This is welcome news to improve both these things.

United Illuminating Monthly Bills Have Been Redisgned

United Illuminating (UI) has recently redesigned your monthly electricity bills to make them easier to read and understand.

The redesigned bills now feature colored and bolded text, making it easier for you to find important information such as account details, amount due, billing summaries, company contact information, and upcoming meter readings. The goal is to ensure that you can quickly locate the most crucial details on your bill.

The redesign also includes a clear breakdown of your changes. You will now see a detailed breakdown of changes related to supply, transmission, local delivery, public benefits, miscellaneous charges, and credits. This breakdown will give you a better understanding of how your electricity charges are allocated.

UI  has also added a detailed graph that displays your usage information and average temperature data. This visual representation will help you better understand your energy consumption patterns and make informed decisions about managing your electricity usage.

Celebrating Black History Month: Hattie McDaniel
It’s award season AND Black History Month? Of course we need to highlight the trailblazing Hattie McDaniel. Not only was she the first African American to win an Oscar, but she was also the first Black woman to sing on radio in the United States.
