STATEMENT OF STATE REPRESENTATIVE LINDA GENTILE ON ARREST OF LOCAL MAN ON HARASSMENT CHARGES
“I have always been respectful of free speech, an individual’s rights, and the 2nd Amendment of The Constitution, but this incident crossed the line. This individual made a direct threat against me and made specific reference to the attempted murder of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and the tragedy that occurred in Tucson Arizona.
“Threats and acts of violence directed toward public servants shake the very foundation of public and community service and weaken the very principles of democracy, as well as undermine the public’s welfare and safety. A threat like that can not be taken lightly. I am thankful that the threats made against me were not acted upon and nobody was hurt.
“I’d like to thank the State Capitol Police and the Ansonia Police Department for their cooperation in investigating this incident. As a result of their investigation, a large cache of firearms (including automatic weapons and an assault rifle) was found at the suspect’s home,” said Rep. Gentile.
Linda Gentile (104th District) is serving her fourth term in the Connecticut General Assembly representing Ansonia and Derby. In addition to serving as House Chair of Planning and Development Committee, she also serves on the Commerce and Public Health Committees.
