Governor Unveils His Budget Proposal

February 20, 2019

The budget presentation is one of the most anticipated events at the State Capitol and Governor Lamont unveiled his Biennial Budget Address during the General Assembly Joint Session. You can read it here.

This legislative package outlines the Governor’s ideas, vision and direction for the state. Now it’s up to us in the legislature to review and deliberate the document to incorporate agreements and compromises that will allow for the crafting of a budget document that addresses our concerns and has enough support to pass.

Connecticut's budget process begins today. As a member of the Legislature's Appropriations Committee, I am ready to dive in. We need to make structural changes, invest in families and invest in our future. Governor Lamont's proposal aims to grow Connecticut's economy while supporting working families. I take him at his word and look forward to collaborating to produce a budget that reflects our values as a state.

Over the next few weeks, I will be working with my colleagues to ask the administration and state agencies about the Governor’s budget proposal. And as the legislative process gets underway, I plan to keep you informed as we make progress and will let you know ways that you can participate.

A good budget reflects our values as a state. Help me craft a final product that makes CT an even better place to live, work and raise a family.
