Call to Action - Public HearingFebruary 27, 2019
Two important proposed bills that I am championing are coming up for Public Hearings before the Environment Committee on Friday, March 1, at 10:30 A.M., at the Legislative Office Building in Hearing Room 2B and I need your help by testifying in support of these measures in order to keep them moving forward. These proposals support our priorities for preserving natural resources so that they can be enjoyed for generations to come.
The first bill, HB 6637 An Act Requiring An Invasive Species Stamp For The Operation Of A Motorboat On The Inland Waters Of The State deals with invasive species, an ongoing problem in our inland waters. We want to do our part to help stop the spreading of these harmful species and requiring motorboat operators to get an Invasive Species Stamp that will support the Connecticut Lakes and Ponds Preservation Account is a step in the right direction to control new infestations.
Providing outdoor recreational opportunities for families and friends in a safe environment not only promotes more physical activity, but encourages improved quality of life for everyone. That’s one of the many reasons HB 7157 An Act Concerning Funding For Bikeway Paths, Recreational Trails And Greenway is important. I am a supporter of building walk-friendly pathways, bike trails and creating opportunities for people of all ages where we can enjoy our natural resources.
