The DMV has been plagued by long wait times, erroneous vehicle registration cancelations and other problems since the upgrade was launched last summer. Some legislators said they have received numerous complaints from constituents and questioned whether 3M should be replaced with another vendor.
Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff was joined by House Transportation Committee Chair Tony Guerra and Jim Chen from Tesla Motors to announce proposed legislation that permits manufacturers of electric vehicles to sell directly to consumers in Connecticut. Senate Bill 3, An Act Concerning the Licensing of New and Used Car Dealers would allow consumers to purchase electric cars without leaving the state.
