Updates from Rep. Haddad for Jan. 17, 2025

January 17, 2025

I grew up drinking home-delivered Mountain Dairy milk (it's so good).

It was particularly special to celebrate National Milk Day at Stearns Farm on Jan. 10 with the Stearns family, Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz, state Sen. Mae Flexer, and Mayor Toni Moran.

Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.
As we approach Martin Luther King Jr. Day, let's take a moment to reflect on the extraordinary legacy of a leader whose vision of justice, equality, and nonviolent resistance transformed our nation and inspired the world. Dr. King's unwavering commitment to civil rights reminds us of the power of courage, compassion, and collective action to create meaningful change.

On Jan. 31, the University of Connecticut will hold its MLK Living Legacy Convocation from 6 to 8.30 p.m. at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts, 2132 Hillside Road, Unit 3104, Storrs.

Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Todd Dulaney and UConn’s Voices of Freedom are scheduled to perform. Tickets are $15-$25 and can be purchased here. There is no charge for UConn students.

Renovations at the Old Town Hall

The town has started the renovation of the Old Town Hall and the 1935 Town Office Building (954 Storrs Road) on Spring Hill.

I joined Mayor Toni Moran, Town Manager Ryan Aylesworth, and Mansfield Historical Society Program Chair Bruce Clouette in offering remarks at the groundbreaking last week.

The $2 million project was bolstered through $834,000 in state bonding that I and state Sen. Mae Flexer secured in 2022.
