Free School Breakfast

August 24, 2026

Back-to-school mornings can be hectic for families, getting everyone dressed, packed, out the door, and where they need to be on time. This school year, every Connecticut student can start their day with a free breakfast, thanks to the $12 million in funding we secured in the state legislature to provide universal free school breakfast throughout the 2026–27 school year.

No student should have to start the school day hungry, and no family should have to worry about whether there’s enough time for breakfast before the morning rush. Universal free breakfast means one less thing for parents to juggle and helps ensure that every child arrives at school ready to focus, learn, and thrive.

This is an important investment in Connecticut’s students and their future, and a practical way to support families as they navigate the busy rhythm of a new school year.
