Juvenile Jurisdiction Policy and Operations Coordinating Council
Pursuant to Public Act 07-4, section 88, the council shall monitor the implementation of the central components of the implementation plan developed by the Juvenile Jurisdiction Planning and Implementation Committee, as set forth in subsection (f) of this section, and resolve issues identified by the committee, as set forth in subsection (g) of this section, concerning changes required in the juvenile justice system to expand jurisdiction to include persons sixteen and seventeen years of age.
Subcommittee Descriptions
The JJPOCC is establishing sub-committees to continue its work on implementing the raise in the age of juvenile jurisdiction. Below is a description of the sub-committees.
Prevention/Early Intervention and Community Resources
The subcommittee focuses on issues impacting local communities to include, but not be limited to, the creation/expansion of juvenile review boards and other prevention/early intervention services, “feeder’ systems, and the impact of the new statute on municipalities and law enforcement.
The subcommittee focuses on the development/implementation of services within and across agency lines including: residential services, both pre-trial and post-conviction; non-residential treatment services; education; and, vocational/job development opportunities. An RBA framework (Results Based Accountability) serves as the framework for the service delivery plan.
Interagency Collaboration and Jurisdictional Issues
The subcommittee focuses on issues involving, but not limited to, involving the sharing of information, siting of community programs, and other legal, operational or procedural issues that cross agency lines.
